Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to be helped from I CHING or The Book of Changes in
practicing and understanding psychotherapy. The author selected Ko hexagram or Kua
which is 49th one among 64 hexagrams within the book, because he thought
psychotherapy is to change patient's mind, He tried to find the meanings of contents of
Ko hexagram in the view of psychotherapy. At first Ko hexagram is analyzed into 3
subjects : Inevitability of psychotherapy(indications of psychotherapy), the conditions of
psychotherapy(trust as a factor of change), the process and results of psychotherapy
(communicapion, benefits, insight, and new pattern) And then 6 Lines of Ko hexagram
can be interpreted as follows : Establishment of the fundamental relationship for the
treatment. awareness of illness, mutative interpretation and working throuht occurence of
change by empathy and trust, establishment of supreme identity result of treatment.
